He invited the headmistress out for dinner
(M Cmbt gives her a bunch of flowers. She shrugs shoulders, smiles, nods, and takes flowers. He gives lecherous knowing wink to audience. They walk to two stools. He makes big show of helping her sit down and he strokes her leg. She whacks his hand with bunch of flowers, then she smiles sweetly)
MILLIE AND TOOTSIE
They’d not even started to read the wine list
When to make a suggestion he could not resist
(He leans over and whispers in her ear. She whacks his head with bunch of flowers smiles sweetly again. He falls back, looks dazed, recovers)
RONNIE AND GARRY
He stuck to his task…like a man on a mission
He decided to take up a novel position
(He goes down on left knee, kisses all the way up her left arm, closes his eyes and puckers up for her to kiss him)
MILLIE AND TOOTSIE
He thought she would fall for his courtship powers
But all that he got was a mouthful of flowers
(she stuffs flowers in his mouth)
RONNIE AND GARRY
He laughed off the setback like a gay cavalier
M CMBT
Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha
(M Cmbt throws flowers away, if possible to be caught by Mr C who gives excited grin)
RONNIE AND GARRY
His esprit de corps was as clear as his leer
(M Cmbt leers at Hm. She changes her attitude and gives him big wink, sidles up to him. He takes fright, hides behind Millie and Tootsie, crouching down, looking for her one way. She sneaks up behind him the other way and squeezes his bum. He leaps to other side of Millie and Tootsie. Hm does not pursue him but blows him a kiss)

(Curtains open OR lights up. Whole cast is still there draped over props, looking exhausted)
RONNIE
Well done everybody. We’ll all meet for the end of show party in the school hall, then we’ll all go down to the [NAME OF LOCAL PUB]
(Everyone jumps up cheers and congratulates one another.
M.G.T.R. Hm, Fgm and Vka stay on. All others go off left and right)
HM
You’ve done yourselves and the school really proud. Well done.

I’ve got all those important producers waiting in my office
RONNIE
Can you be our agent and negotiate a good deal for us?
HM (rubbing hands in glee)
I certainly can. I’m going to enjoy this. (she goes off left)
RONNIE
We did it! (M.G.T.R. cheer and dance round hugging one another.
Then they go to Fgm and Vka saying thank you and hugging and kissing)
TOOTSIE (to Garry)
And would you like to tell us how you got back here
FGM
Yes. You must tell us all your adventures with the wicked witch
GARRY
Ok. I’ll make it quick. Got to the land of the wicked witch. Felt really low and scared. Elves arrived to help me. Came face to face with the wicked witch. She tricked me into wasting the packet of magic powder you gave me. But then the elves reminded her of her childhood with you and she decided to turn good. Now, as you know, she’s your sister and her name is Griselda.
(M.T.R. giggle and repeat ‘Griselda’)
Don’t laugh. She’s lovely…..and she’s come back to be with you again.
(Garry raises his right arm to usher her in. Griselda enters stage right)
FGM
Griselda!
GRISELDA
Genevieve!
(They greet each other warmly)
I’m so sorry that I locked you in that wood
FGM
We’re so glad that you’ve decided to be good
GRISELDA
I’ll never be a bad old witch again
As Garry said I changed for good and then
I broke my wand
FGM
You broke your wand?
(to Garry)
But her wand you needed for the spell
To get you back here safe and well!
GARRY
I know. We were in a right mess. There we were: the elves, Griselda and me, stuck without a hope of getting home.
(music begins quietly, theme of ‘Wings of love’.
(JUKEBOX ON PAGE 1 - TRACK 38)
During his next speech Garry slowly walks down centre.
Lights dimming. Pale follow spot on Garry, strengthening during his speech)
And then we heard the sound of flapping wings and a screeching call from a huge bird. It landed on the ground near us. We could see in the faint light it was a huge eagle. We could hear her calling us and telling us to climb up on her back and hold on to her feathers. So we all did. We could hear her calm voice saying to us, ‘Do not be afraid. I have come to help you‘. She took off into the night.
(Fgm slowly walks down stage to join Garry at his right side.
They are both within throw of follow spot. Rest of stage in low light)
I called out to her, ‘Who are you?’ She said,
FGM AND GARRY (together)
‘I am the wings of love and I have come to take you home.’
GARRY
I said to her, ‘Do you have a name?’
She said,
FGM AND GARRY (together)
‘My name is…..Xanthea’
FGM
Xanthea, my beloved Xanthea.
You must excuse me I have to go
To meet a friend I’ve waited so
Long to see.
(Music continues. She exits stage right.
Close curtains OR blackout.
ACT 2 SCENE 4 THE WILD WOOD

(Subdued lighting. Fgm enters stage left, looking up to sky.
Music continues quietly on same theme.
Fgm goes to spot marked on floor which later will be centre point of single downward spotlight from roof.
During dialogue, sound effect of flapping of bird’s wings grows louder
Personal props: Tootsie - real magic wand, straight sides, two bumps, a bit sparkly)
Fgm - wrong magic wand from act 1 scene 1)
FGM (looking up and calling)
Xanthea! Xanthea!
Is it you my darling one
Is it really you
